Panj Pyarey (five beloved ones) leading the 2013 Nagar Kirtan

As part of the 2013 Vaisakhi celebations a Nagar Kirtan was held where the Guru Granth Sahib Ji was taken in a procession to each of the Gurdwaras in Bradford. Nagar means “town” and Kirtan is the “singing of spiritual hymns”.

In 2013 over 10,000 Sikhs took part in the Nagar Kirtan which was held on Sunday 14th April and started from the Gurdwara Singh Sabha .

The route for the Nagar Kirtan was as follows:

• Gurdwara Singh Sabha
• Ramgarhia Sikh Gurdwara
• Gurdwara Amrit Parchar Dharmik Diwan
• Gurdwara Guru Nanak Dev Ji
• Guru Gobind Singh Gurdwara
• Return to the Gurdwara Singh Sabha

As part of the 2013 Vaisakhi celebations a Nagar Kirtan will be held where the Guru Granth Sahib Ji will be taken in a procession to each of the Gurdwaras in Bradford.

This year the Nagar Kirtan will be on Sunday 14th April 2013 starting at 10:30am from Gurdwara Singh Sabha with an aim to finish by 2:00 pm.

The route for the Nagar Kirtan will be as follows:

There will be a 20 minute stop over at each Gurdwara.

There will be a range of activities for all the children including:

• Face painting
• Games, including traditional games
• Kite Making

If you’ve not already register, don’t worry you can still register for the Mela on the day.

The fun starts at 10:00am and continues until 3:30pm. Lunch will be provided by the Guru Gobind Singh Gurdwara.

2012 T-Shirt Design Winners

The 1st, 2nd and 3rd prizes were presented to the winners on Sunday 22 April 2012 in the main Divan Hall at Guru Gobind Singh Gurdwara, by Baljit Kaur Hare (Competition Organiser). Also present in the above photograph are the three winners along with Resham Singh (Gurdwara Sevadar), Giani Gurmeet Singh (Head Granthi) and Ranbir Singh Rai (Gurdwara President). This was the first year of this competition and there are plans to make this into an annual competition.

The nomination form must be handed in person along with a passport size photograph and a non-refundable nomination fee of £100.00.
